2. Eat! Vancouver

Vancouver, November 6 to 11

Between expert cooking demos and chef collaborations, there’s a lot to love about this annual food festival, but one of the best parts is the intimate dinner series featuring top local talent—Andrea Carlson, Trevor Bird, Angus An—paired up with hot chefs from back East and the U.S. Also new this year, the Eat! Pastry event serves up desserts from 16 of Canada’s best pastry chefs and chocolatiers, like Toronto’s Nadège Nourian. Events at various locations. eat-vancouver.com

5. LitFest

Edmonton, October 12 to 22
Canada’s only nonfiction literary festival connects readers to writers and noteworthy topics from politics to cooking trends for 11 straight days.
