Micheal Leckie returns to his alma mater to speak about alternative housing solutions and self-built structures today.
Architecture and design buffs take note: Michael Leckie, architect and 2016 Western Living Designer of the Year, is set to speak this week at the UBC School of Architecture and Landscape Architecture as part of their Lunchtime Talks series. The architect and designer, known equally for his modernist designs as for his historical rehabilitations, returns to his alma mater to speak on the topic of the DIY housing, self built structures, and his latest project, the Backcountry Hut Company.
Leckie’s Backcountry Hut project utilizes a modular design and prefabricated building components to create a house-in-a-box concept that falls within the tiny house movement and strive for sustainable design and construction. Hear more about this and Leckie’s other fascinating projects 12:30 pm, Jan 18, in the Lasserre Building, on the UBC campus.
