4 Etsy Designers to Check Out at Khatsahlano Street Party
The popular Kitsilano festival gets its first Etsy Marketplace
Etsy is bringing its offerings offline.
For the first time ever, the Khatsahlano summer street party in Kitsilano is getting its own Etsy Marketplace, adding heaps of talented artisans to the free event’s 10 blocks of music and food.
We got a sneak preview of the whole crop and picked out some of our favourite sellers—watch out for these fab five!
Crystal Ho, the artist behind Triple Studios, has a passion for quirky animal art (and so do we!). And you can get her delicate watercolour paintings of otters and pooches on everything from throw pillows to totes.
Created in 2008, Ole Originals produces silk-screened shirts with distinctly Canadian graphics (B.C. represent!), while operating out of Vancouver.
Jamie Carlson drew inspiration from her Japanese and Swedish heritage, and created the portmanteau Scandinazn for the colourful jewelry she makes from recycled leather and gemstones. It’s upcycled, it’s funky, it’s hip enough for your East Van friends.
LouLou Lollipop Finery caught our eye for its mommy-twist on traditional bling: not only is the eco-friendly and dishwasher-safe jewellery stylish, it also doubles as teething fodder for babies. Game-changer.
This year Khatsahlano is on Saturday, July 11 on West 4th Avenue. It runs from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., with more than 50 musical acts performing for free. The festival now includes licensed beer gardens (should we have lead with that?).
