Glow big or glow home. Glowbal restaurant unveils new 17,000 square feet location in downtown Vancouver.

The hashtag for last night’s Glowbal restaurant debut? #SuperGlowbal. Couldn’t have been more appropriate.

The former Yaletown establishment now dominates 17,000 square feet on the corner of Seymour and Georgia, spans three floors of the Telus Garden building (also home to sister eatery Nosh) and opens up onto an expansive, 150-seat, multi-section patio (lounges and bird cages and ponds—oh my!). To celebrate, Glowbal threw a massive public party (2,500-plus people, open bar), that turned a typically quiet patch of Vancouver’s downtown into a Vegas-Strip-style outdoor club menagerie.

A shrinking violet she is not. Owner Emad Yacoub calls the new Glowbal “bigger, bolder and better than ever.”

Early on in the night, guests could see the crowds slowly forming from open windows on the second floor (before the public found out about the open bar).

The 150-seat patio has a mix of lounge, high top and bird cage seating. Marble tables and white ottomans—which light up at night—are arranged neatly in front of the peekaboo fireplaces (the calm before the storm).

Windows on the second and first floors open up onto the patio.

20150819_170450_resizedOminous skeletal overhang? Check.

Guests heading inside were greeted by a glass case displaying the menu’s rotating feature stock of fine proteins (Wagyu beef, caviar etc.).

The “small” open kitchen on the main floor features Canada’s first custom built Robata grill (the main kitchen takes up the entirety of the floor below).

With a capacity of 60, the Gold Room—complete with glam gold wallpaper—is purportedly the largest private dining room in the city.

One of three private dining rooms on Glowbal’s second floor, this one is all leather, studs and ladies. (One side of the room features a gallery wall of famous pin-ups and celebs like Marilyn Monroe and Sophia Loren.)

Lounge-y areas aplenty at the new Glowbal, with interiors designed by Box Interior Design.

Glowbal executive chef Pedro Gonzalez will be leading a team of 60 back-of-house staff in stripped-down North American cuisine. Expect dishes like Truffled Spaghetti & Signature Meatballs, Chili & Garlic Fried Sea Bass and Miso Marinated Sablefish.
