New C|Prime Restaurant Brings ‘Modern Italian’ to Vancouver
The Century Plaza Hotel & Spa reveals its renovated and reimagined hotel restaurant, C|Prime Modern Italian Steak & Wine.
Vancouver’s restaurant scene welcomed a new Italian addition Wednesday, as the Century Plaza Hotel debuted C|Prime Modern Italian Steak & Wine.
Replacing the hotel’s Beyond restaurant and its West Coast fare at 1015 Burrard St., C|Prime’s menu will be a mix of traditional steakhouse and reinterpreted Italian classics.
Going for a more Manhattan-chic vibe, the restaurant is also fresh off a $1-million makeover complete with a new wine room, pasta display kitchen, 30-seat bar and glam Gatsby chandeliers.
During the grand opening guests sipped cassis-infused bubbly between rounds of canapés adapted from the menu, including morel gnocchi, shucked oysters and lamb chops—with a new chef set to take the helm from Elliott Hashimotto in July.
And the name? It has nothing to do with Transformers. C stands for Century, referring to its home, the Century Plaza Hotel & Spa, while Prime refers to the locally sourced prime cuts of meat it offers as a steakhouse.
