The Brady Bunch House is for Sale!
And it’s only $1,885,000—but how can you put a price on your childhood?
There were few nicer households to grow up in in the 1970s than 11222 Dilling Street in Studio City, California. It was big enough for 6 kids, plenty of backyard space and a room for a live-in housekeeper. And owned by an Architect! I always assumed it the house was as fictional as the family who occupied it: Mike and Carol Brady and their 6 kids: Greg, Marcia, Peter, Jan, Bobby and Cindy (I didn’t have to google those names btw). But not only is the house not fictional—it’s for sale. Creator Sherwood Schwartz evidently chose the house because it looked like where an architect would live and boy did he nail it. The decor: cutting edge coloured porcelain that matches the hand towels and valences.
And some sweet 1970s woodwork.
And a pretty masterful use of patterned wallpaper flowing into a matching bedcover. And white shag.
It just hit the market yesterday so if you don’t want wait until they get around to inventing that time machine, this is you next best bet.
Oh and “Marcia, Marcia, Marcia!” Had to work that in somehow.
