Designers Share Their Fave Accessories for Fall

Warm textures and materials, moody colour palettes—these four designers know what the fall season is all about.

Fall has only just arrived, but if you’re anything like us, you’ve been planning how to make your home more warm and cozy (and dramatic!) for a long time now. To help, we asked a handful of Western Canadian designers to share their favourite home decor pieces—consider this inspiration to kick off those rain boots, hunker down and enjoy the season in the great indoors.

1. Modernist Pots

“Hand painted by the Pop and Scott team, these gorgeous pots in their terracotta hues are the perfect vessel to house plants, which are the ‘it’ thing in interior decor at the moment. I love the modernist shapes, the organic vibe they give and the bright colour ways, which are so needed in the dreary days of fall.” —Alykhan Velji, Alykhan Velji Designs

2. Chunky Knit Throw

Curl up with this chunky knit throw, a book and a warm cup of tea and you have yourself a perfect fall day! Not only will this piece keep you cozy, but also add texture and a layered look to a sofa or chair.” —Erin Chow, The Cross Decor and Design

3. Marbled Round Mirror 1874

“There will always be great options for wall-mounted mirrors, but I’m starting to see a resurgence of the table top vanity mirror that fell to the trend wayside in the ’90s. There have been some great options in wood and metal but I’m really liking this one with an emerald green block base. Deep greens are going to be huge this fall and I like that this piece incorporates it in a small way. A little drama in your everyday morning routine goes a long way!” —Dexter Delores, Dexter Delores Interiors

4. Madrid 5-Piece Cutlery Set

“Something black for your kitchen or dining rooms. I like adding a black bowl, candleholders or switching out the cutlery to (matte black). It reminds me of Halloween and black is in right now.” —Elena Del Bucchia, Elena Del Bucchia Design
