Crafted Vancouver is excited to present their inaugural festival, showcasing the best in local, national and international professional craft. Happening May 4-28 across Metro Vancouver, take in the works and worlds of skilled craftspeople from a wide range of métiers, through workshops, self-guided tours, presentations, talks and tastings.
This year’s theme, “Made to be Discovered” invites you to dig a little deeper into the variety of places we find craft. Whether it’s in our home, backstage at the Opera or in architecture, craft finds itself in a multitude of spaces and disciplines.
Crafted Vancouver aims to open the process of craft up to consumers. “In a mass-market, disposable culture, there’s an opportunity to revive our appreciation for quality goods and reconnect with those who produce them,” says Carrie Ross, the festival’s Director. Crafted Vancouver aims to connect the community not only with craft goods, but also the practice, to showcase and celebrate the stories and processes that go into the creation of the artisanal and hand-made.
This May, Crafted Vancouver invites you to celebrate unique pieces and to learn more about those who make them. Visit the Crafted Vancouver website for a full description of events and participants.
