International designers find inspiration from this year’s “fibre” theme to creative sustainable lighting projects.

On November 20, Vancouverites have the opportunity to see fibre in a new light—literally. The Lighting Architecture Movement Project (LAMP) challenged designers all over the world to take inspiration from that one word—fibre—and create an inventive lamp using sustainable materials and LED lights. This Thursday, the top entries will be unveiled and the winner, Spencer Staley, receives a $500 grand prize.Guests can tour designs ranging from rustic lit logs to modern swinging chandeliers, including a unique installation by Ricky Alvarez and Leanne Kriz. Bring the kids back on Saturday to check out Matthew McCormick’s Lighting Design Workshop. Part of the proceeds from this event will go to supporting those “Future Science Leaders” you met on Thursday—along with funding many other Science World programs. The event will be held at 188 Kingsway, Vancouver.
