The City of Light infuses just the right touch of je ne sais quoi for Vancouver’s Jackie Kai Ellis. After a stint studying the pastry arts through Paris’s Ecole Gastronomique Bellouet Conseil, she opened her successful Beaucoup Bakery for exquisite patisserie and beautiful things. She regularly returns to Paris to wax poetic about who makes the best chocolate, macarons or croissants through her pastry tours, and to draw inspiration for her other projects, including baguettes for her upcoming bakery, Farine. It’s a must for “kitchen equipment porn.”I like to join the legion of locals at the Place des Vosges—with fountains on every corner, it’s a beautiful park to sit in, and on Sundays, it’s where many Parisians spend the day.The chaussons aux pommes at Lenôtre in Bastille are the best in the city, and it’s the first place I go when I’m in Paris.Le Marais has amazing streets to get lost in, especially the rue des Rosiers.One of the heritage rose varieties at boutique Roses Costes Dani Roses was the inspiration for the tattoo on my arm.
