Watching a film festival virtually doesn’t have quite the same appeal as an in-person event; there’s no dressing up, audience mingling, or snacks. On the plus side, from home we can wear pyjamas, exclaim at the screen, and eat a three-course takeout meal. We’re taking what we can get during this complicated, isolating time. And the Architecture and Design Film Festival is providing us with what might be it’s most accessible event yet: ADFF@Neoconnect, which kicks off this Sunday, June 14.

The event is made up of four nights of virtual film screenings, which you can access here for only $3. Sunday is Strange and Familiar: Architecture on Fogo Island, a 54-minute film that follows the construction of the famous hotel (pictured above) on a little island off the coast of eastern Newfoundland. Monday is Mario Botta: The Space Beyond, a look into acclaimed Swiss architect Mario Botta’s artistic journey. Tuesday is SuperDesign: Italian Radical Design 1965-75, which covers the Italian radical movement in architecture and design in the sixties and seventies. And on Wednesday, Charlotte Perriand, Pioneer in the Art of Living tells the story of revolutionary designer Charlotte Perriand in a diary-like style. All of the films are screening at 8:00 p.m. PST and again at 11:00 p.m. PST on their designated days, and each one will be followed by a live Q&A with the directors.
