Drop Everything. Ikea Has a Food Subscription Box Now

I'll go ahead and say that no one is more excited about Ikea's new food subscription box than me. First off, the Ikea dining hall has been closed for almost a year, and I€™ve been missing that well-earned post-shopping meal. But second€”and more importantly€”I predicted this. When Ikea launched their home-focused boxes in January 2021, I wrote a webpost that played with the idea of delivering food, too:

 €œI wonder if they have the technology to deliver soft-serve. There’s no underestimating the Swedes.€€” Me, 45 days ago

Okay, I was joking. But I still feel like maybe I deserve a cut. Your move, Ikea.

The two options offered€”available in Vancouver only for the launch€”are the €œSwedish Meatball Meal€ ($49.99/month) and the €œSwedish Treats€ ($31.99/month€”soft serve isn€™t on either menu, not surprisingly). Once you order, you'll receive a box every three weeks for the duration of the three month trial.

Here's a full menu for both:

Swedish Meatballs Meal

• 2 Köttbullar meatballs (1 kg)
• 2 Allemansrätten mashed potatoes (600g)
• 4 Allemansrätten mix for cream sauce (28g)
• 1 Sylt lingon lingonberry jam organic  (400g)

Swedish Treats

• 2 Festligt potato crisps sour cream (150g)
• 2 Festligt potato crisps salted (150g)
• 1 Lördagsgodis sweet jellies with raspberry tastes (80g)
• 1 Lördagsgodis sweet jellies with apple/pear taste (80g)
• 1 Kafferep cookie with chocolate fill (176g)
