You could describe this Calgary home office as “masculine” or “moody.” Or, you could articulate the vibe like DWK Interiors designer Jenn MacDonald: “Scotch, cigars and tailored three-piece suits.” It’s a space that mixes cognac leathers and deep jewel tones to create a materials palette that is totally distinct from the rest of the light and airy home. Particularly striking is an extensive coat of rich charcoal paint (Benjamin Moore Wrought Iron), which covers the trim, built-in shelving and even the ceiling… as well as the hidden millwork door that connects the room to the foyer. “The homeowner wanted to be able to work here but also entertain clients and colleagues,” explains MacDonald. “A vintage ‘men’s club’ experience, right at home.”
