Some rooms are built for productivity; this one is built for exhaling. Sophie Burke and Nicole Gomes from Sophie Burke Design turned the Wallace House den into the kind of moody little cocoon that makes you instantly lower your voice, like you’ve stepped into a very chic secret. Wrapped in a smoky blue-grey and anchored by precision-built millwork from Precisionwerkz, the space tucks everything neatly in, vinyl, AV equipment, books, so the mind can settle as easily as the room’s palette.

Lighting does much of the heavy lifting in setting the tone. An Allied Maker ceiling fixture sends a soft, sculptural glow across the dark surfaces, while a small Barter Design lamp on the desk creates a warm pool of light for late-night playlists or focused work. Window coverings from Wilson Road keep daylight diffuse and gentle, bringing a touch of softness into the intentionally shadowy space.

The den becomes a proper refuge, ready for records, reading or simply the rare luxury of shutting the door and disappearing for a bit.
