Utility and elegance combine in this Windsor mud room. The compact space is more than just a place to toss off snow-laden boots and rain-soaked outerwear: with creamy wood floor-to-ceiling cabinetry to tuck away coats, stylish-yet-durable black and white checkerboard floors and a well-placed bench to remove shoes, the North Vancouver mud room seems to guarantee efficiency.

The best-kept secret of the room is the stacked washer and dryer that’s hidden behind a full-height V-groove door. Plus, designer Jessica Bremner has integrated a laundry chute into the home—a polished touch that makes the homeowners’ daily routines that much easier. And if laundry day is a little chaotic? A pocket door slides across to keep the space sight unseen.
