These April Events Are No Joke

Don’t be a fool this April: hit up these great new Design Sundays workshops at the Museum of Vancouver.

The Museum of Vancouver is answering all of your design questions this April with its four-session Design Sundays workshop series. Each workshop covers a Vancouver-specific design and city topic, and can be taken all together as a whole series or separately as individual sessions. The series is meant to introduce discussion about Vancouver design to the people it affects most, everyday Vancouverites.

Modify Vancouver: An Intro to Design Fiction

Hosted by Design Nerds, the Modify Vancouver workshop is meant to put theory into action by re-imagining a Vancouver without any limits. Participants will work in small groups to provoke discussion about what Vancouver is and what it could be by using your imagination—think science fiction for the present.

Dear Vancouver: An Experimental Letter Writing Campaign on Public Space

Have you ever wanted to write a letter to city hall or another government official to ask for change in your community? This workshop will lead you through the creative process of writing letters that can ultimately be the first line of action towards a meaningful change.

Make It Rain

Have you ever made plans only to have them ruined by the rain? Of course you have, you live in Vancouver. The Make It Rain workshop, facilitated by the Vancouver Public Space Network, will be exploring the concept of making use of public spaces in rainy climates throughout the year.

Improv-ing the City: Designing Policies Through Participative Theatre

This workshop is aimed at those who wish to know more about city housing policies. Participants will be assigned roles of homeowner, renter, real estate agent, foreign investor and contractor banker and will act out various situations that arise with current and proposed policies. The workshop is designed to help participants understand the stakes, opinions and goals of everybody involved in the housing market of Vancouver.
