Locally inspired dishes pair with Sandhill Winery and Howe Sound Brewing Co. in two special winemaker/brewmaster dinner events.
The best cocktail I’ve ever had was at Nita Lake Lodge‘s Aura Restaurant (a Cedar Sour, sadly no longer in circulation. I’m still in mourning) so it’s hard to envision an evening there spent dabbling in wine or beer instead—but if I’m going to move on with my life, onto bigger, boozier things, the room’s summer dining series looks like a pretty good way to do it.Liquidity Winery and Whistler Brewing kicked things off earlier this summer, but the magic continues with Sandhill Winery taking the reins August 20, and Howe Sound Brewing Co. taking over September 10.Tour the Nita Lake Lodge gardens (edible flowers!) before sitting down to a multi-course exploration of local food and wine or beer as Aura executive chef Dean Hossack highlights farm-fresh ingredients—think Okanagan-farmed apples and B.C. lamb—alongside smartly selected drink pairings.Tickets for the August 20 ($69) and September 10 ($49) dinners are available through Nita Lake Lodge. And if you over-imbibe? Sleep it off right there at the hotel. (It’s a cozy spot to dream about that Cedar Sour).
