Playful and practical styles for growing families.
From a triple-sink setup that keeps sibling squabbles at bay to a lakeside cabin bath splashed with fish-scale tiles, these four kids’ bathrooms from the WL archives prove that family-friendly spaces can still feel elevated.
Sharing a bathroom with your sisters may sound like a nightmare, but that’s not the case in this Falken Reynolds-designed space. Each of the teenage girls—daughters of former NHL player Dan Hamuis—have their own sink, which we can only assume has helped to minimize arguments. Check out the rest of this Northern B.C. home.
When the former Ministry of Interiors team—now Studio Edna and Brianna Hughes Interior Design—helped revamp this 2,600-square-foot home, the owners’ children were just 2 and 5 years old. To create a space that would grow with the kids, designers Shannon McClelland and Brianna Hughes paired a playful Hex Star cement tile with a classic white subway tile. Explore this modern farmhouse.
Speaking of Brianna Hughes… our 2024 Robert Ledingham Memorial Award winner seems to have a knack for designing kids’ bathrooms. That said, the one in this ’70s-inspired Edmonton home does have a more grown-up style. It features terracotta subway tiles, a terrazzo tile tub surround and a dark teal vanity. See the before and after renovation photos.
This lakeside cabin in Saskatchewan can comfortably fit 20+ guests, so of course the kids get their own bathroom! Situated between two bunk rooms, it embraces a beach house aesthetic with fish-print wallpaper and teal fish-scale-style tiles. Step inside this Cristina Rivett-designed vacation home.
