Easy ways to upgrade your painting game.

1. Boxing Day

Individual cans of paint may vary slightly in colour, so avoid tonal mismatch by mixing all the gallons together in one big bucket—a process called “boxing”—before you get started.

2. Over the Edge

An edger might just be the most valuable tool in a painter’s kit—the rectangular pad makes for smooth, clean lines along the ceiling.

3. Everybody Freeze

Cleaning brushes is a pain, but if you’re using latex-based paint for a multi-day job, just toss the brushes and roller into plastic shopping bags and freeze. When you’re ready for the next coat, just thaw them out.
