With winter's official start just around the corner, now's the perfect time to cuddle up with one of these designer-approved throws.
What gets more action than a throw in cold weather? Napping, knitting, Netflixing—the winter season presents countless opportunities for a cozy throw to do its thing, so we asked five designers what chic coverage they’re coveting this winter season.
“It’s cozy and warm, and I love the grey/black colour combo (inquire for pricing)—it works with any colour scheme.” —Sophie Burke, Sophie Burke Design
“Recently I’ve come across Vacilando Quilting. Although quilts may seem more traditional then you typical fuzzy throw blanket, these quilts are beautifully made with great colours choices and contemporary geometric patterns. One of my favourites is the Lone Rock Quilt ($418) which takes inspiration from the designers trip to the rocky mesa of Southern Utah’s Lone Rock Beach.” —Mary McNeill, Kyla Bidgood Interior Design
“The fractured luxe throw ($689) from Kelly Wearstler is one of my favourites. Made of soft baby alpaca, it’s luxurious and chic. The graphic and modern striped print makes it a perfect accent on any sofa or side chair.” —Alykhan Velji, Alykhan Velji Designs
“The past three years I have had my eye on the Alpaga Chunky Throw ($900) by Annie Legault, which I found at The Pepin Shop in Montreal. Every time I look at it, it just makes me want to curl up in it by the fire, or on a rainy day and have a good read or nap. To me it’s a “relax and cozy time for me” throw. These throws are great in neutral colours as it can go anywhere and with any season, and its texture speaks for itself. Or if you choose it in custom colour than it really becomes a big showstopper.” —Elena Del Bucchia, Elena Del Bucchia Design
“I love soft neutral beachy throws like the Alpaca Wide Stripe from Restoration Hardware ($277). They bring in a cozy Hamptons/Nantuket energy into a West Coast scheme.” —Jenny Martin, Jenny Martin Design
