Celebrate Canada's 150th anniversary in style.
Considering British artist Alice Shirley’s affinity for botanical and zoological illustration—she’s been working on drawing sea monsters for London’s Natural History Museum—an opportunity to work with Heremès in celebration of Canada’s 150th birthday seemed only natural. After sifting through countless images and books, and watching documentaries about our home and native land, Shirley created a scarf that truly mirrors our vast and varied landscape. With its eye-popping colours, the “Into the Canadian Wild” silk twill scarf is an homage to all things Canadian, featuring everything from temperate rainforests and the rugged Rocky Mountains to more than 50 species of wildlife.“I tried to mirror the different habitats, animals, birds, insect, plant life—and to capture the whole of Canada rather than just one area,” says Shirley. “You can’t know something on such a huge continental scale, but I feel like I have definitely made a connection with the country and want to visit it all.” Knotted, twisted, folded or draped, it’s definitely an eye-catching way to celebrate our country’s sesquicentennial anniversary. Available in Hermès stores across Canada and at hermes.com.
