The right bed doesn’t just improve your sleep. It also becomes a thoughtful element of your bedroom’s design—beyond the headboard or duvet cover.

Hästens blends refined aesthetics with elevated comfort to make the most luxurious, handcrafted, natural-material beds in the world. Founded in 1852, Hästens has perfected its craft for six generations, hand-making supportive, layered beds using horsetail hair, wool, cotton and Swedish pine.

“The 2000T represents the best of Hästens,” says Ringo Wu, general manager of Hästens Vancouver. A signature expression of Hästens, the 2000T offers adaptive support that restores the body through its careful design, making every sleep exceptional.

Elevating Quality Sleep

The 2000T is a premium Hästens bed. It uses higher-grade materials, fine horsetail hair and 37 layers to offer even more support. With more layers and materials, lying on a 2000T bed is like “sleeping on a cloud,” says Wu.

“You have a layer of wool and cotton blend, then a layer of horsetail, then another wool and cotton blend,” says Wu. “The layering makes sure that your body weight is distributed evenly.” Using natural materials also makes the bed breathable. Horsetail, for example, is hollow inside like a straw, Wu explains. “The little millions of mini ‘straws’ inside the bed are going to naturally breathe and push out all the hot air,” he says. A breathable bed naturally cools as your body expels heat at night, resulting in less toss-and-turns to release muscle tension and reduce restlessness for more comfortable sleep.

But it’s not just the natural material that sets the 2000T apart. Extra edge support and side stitching with one single thread result in even strength and support. It also has a split tension feature for each side of the bed to accommodate different sleeping preferences.

A breathable bed is a worthy investment, explains Wu, as it dramatically improves sleep quality. “To put into perspective,” says Wu, “if your own mattress needs a bed to rest on, the 2000T would be the one. It is THAT good.”

Form Follows Function

Hästens Beds

You might recognize the blue check design of a Hästens bed. In 1978, Hästens introduced its signature pattern at a design show, and it resonated as a design-forward alternative to plain white or beige mattresses.

“Hästens wanted to create something that represents your lifestyle,” says Wu. The blue and white colours are reminiscent of clouds in the sky, Wu notes. “It creates a variance in the room, and it’s very natural.”

Today, the check pattern comes in different colours, like beige, black or grey, so customers can match their bedroom’s aesthetic. “Now you’re turning a boring bedroom into a highly thought-out bedroom without sacrificing comfort,” Wu says.

The 2000T’s quiet luxury presence, timeless textile patterns and harmonious integration into premium bedroom schemes make it a favourite of designers and sleepers alike. Wu invites everyone to experience a Hästens bed for themselves at the new Vancouver location.
