Designer Elena Del Bucchia seamlessly blends contemporary and cowboy styles at this Calgary ranch.
Most of us would never think to combine mid-century Scandinavian and Western Canadian cowboy design aesthetics, but somehow, Elena Del Bucchia managed to do just that. The designer’s respect for family history—the homeowner wanted the property, sitting on 12 acres of land, to honour his mother’s memory—and devotion to contemporary design is evident throughout the gorgeous Calgary home; in the dining room, a sleek custom table is juxtaposed by a dramatic zinc-and-wood chandelier (and that bohemian-style rug adds just the right amount of colour). “Somehow the house has managed to become a loose reflection of my grandfather’s old place that I loved so much,” explains the homeowner. “It honours both sides of my family.”
