Learn everything you need to know about heritage homes and the restoration process in this Vancouver workshop.
For anyone renovating an older home in Vancouver, a plethora of questions are bound to arise: What parts of the building are original? How damaged is too damaged? How can you tell what’s worth saving vs. binning? Where do you even start?Thankfully, the Vancouver Heritage Foundation hosts regular workshops to elucidate the heritage home restoration process—with practical advice from architects, trades, building owners and more.Their latest workshop, Heritage 101, runs this Saturday, March 5 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and offers a comprehensive intro to heritage conservation and Vancouver’s building history. The all-day event will take attendees through two site observation exercises to learn how to evaluate older buildings, and they’ll be able to bend the ear of the City of Vancouver’s senior heritage planner, who will be on-hand for those burning questions.Tickets are $110 and you can register here.
