It's no secret Calgary's Alykhan Velji has great styleall the more reason we're excited to see him return to Dinner by Design with an exciting new tablescape.
It can be a faux pas to follow a theme too closely, but Aly Velji—who recently celebrated his 10-year anniversary with Alykhan Velji Designs—is out to break the rules with this year’s Dinner by Design Calgary tablescape. “I find we can really step outside the box and think more conceptually,” says Velji, whose repeat appearance at the event has the designer itching to push the boundaries.Deriving inspiration from his travels (he goes on a trip at least once a year to find new ideas), Velji and his team came up with the idea of a “faceted” tablescape (see the green and gold Faceted Fantasy vision board above). A few things we have to look forward to: the team plans to create a large-scale build in the form of a room, with angular walls, a gorgeous custom wallpaper treatment, a custom Caesarstone table, and mirrors to help with reflection and ambiance. “Rather than just a functional dining space, it can be so much more than that,” says Velji. “It will be like dining in a faceted gemstone.”We can’t wait!
