Designer Kate Duncan's design showcase returns for its fifth year.
Vancouver’s furniture designer and maker, Kate Duncan is bringing back the fifth annual Address design showcase to the city. (Photo Credit: Kate Duncan)This year, Duncan’s moved the event to both a new address—the Settlement Building on 397 Alexander Street—and a new time, running in conjunction with IDS Vancouver: September 21st to the 23rd.Curated by MāK Interiors’ Amber Kingsnorth, Address is part gallery, part pop-up shop, and part-showroom, all showcasing professional creativity and art from Duncan and a crew of North America’s elite designers and makers.Visitors will be able to check out Brent Comber‘s environmentally friendly and visually stunning sculpted pieces or Propellor‘s simple but striking lighting fixtures. Learn the secrets to ergonomic designs with Nicholas Purcell‘s beautiful space-saving furniture paired with Birdman The Welder‘s clean and functional mantra or colour pops by THRIVE Studio‘s strong female contingents. (Photo Credit: Kate Duncan)Dreamy carpets from Creative Matters might set the mood, but table-top vignettes like coiled rope crafts from Coastal Craftwork, Timothy Dyck‘s durable steel bowls, and elegant decorative projects by Lynn Falconer play an important role in complementing the flooring. Other talented craftspeople that will be lending their expertise to the display include MāK Interiors, Fabulous Furnishings, Pot Inc, Stefanie Dueck, Erica Leal, GREY by Becki Chan, Antipod Workshop, mth woodworks, Alison Kent Home, and Will Morrison Studio—looks like the gang’s all here.
Where: Settlement Building, 397 Alexander St., Vancouver, B.C.When: September 21st to 23rd from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
