Make It craft fair returns to Vancouver and Edmonton to start off the season in style.

With more than 250 exhibitors, a beer garden, food trucks and live musical performances, the Make It craft fair is one of the most fun ways to knock down your gift-giving list. Not sure which of the locally made products to choose? Here are some of our favourite artists, makers and crafters who will be showcasing their work at the Vancouver (December 8 to 11) and Edmonton (November 24 to 27) events.

East Van Light Handmade in East Vancouver (hence the name), these interesting lamps are made of locally sourced hardwood and antique reproduction Edison light bulbs. The combination of vintage materials with a modern industrial design makes them a definite conversation piece.Natura Soylights These naturally scented and handmade soy candles are sure to light up your next holiday get-together. One of their limited edition Holiday Collection scents, like Candy Cane or Cranberry and Laurel, will get an entire room into the spirit. (Only available at Make It Edmonton.)Vancouver Candle Co. With a similar approach to natural ingredients and handmade soy candles, these candlemakers take a distinctly Vancouver turn. Each scented candle is named after a neighbourhood in the city–Yaletown, for example, is a honeysuckle and geranium blend while the North Shore candle smells like spruce, mandarin and coriander. A unique gift for native Vancouverites or visitors alike. (Only available at Make It Vancouver.)The Nut Merchant A staple at the Granville Island Public Market, the Nut Merchant offers interesting flavour combinations like lemon tarragon cashews and maple sriracha pecans, as well as classics like Canadian maple almonds.Elfworks Studio makes a variety of hand-carved wooden items and knitted hats and scarves, and perhaps their most impressive offerings are their one-of-a-kind hardwood cutting boards. Use them to prepare dinner or serve up a fruit platter in style.Sarah Mulligan Glass This Victoria-based glassblower creates impressive fused- and blown-glass pieces. She offers both decorative work and functional glassware and jewelery, all made by hand at temperatures over 2,000 degrees. The pictured nest bowl with suspended fennel inside gives an idea of the elegance available.
