If your aim for this Father’s Day is to knock his socks off with gifts that go beyond the booze and the barbecue (though we’re not judging if that’s your dad’s dream!), this gift list is for you. We talked to four Western Canadian fathers in creative fields to find out what they’re hoping for this year. Now, get shopping.

Ben Leavitt

Ben Leavitt is the principal designer at PlaidFox Studio, which is credited with designing some of our favourite interiors (like this makeover of a Kits Point Beach House). He was also named our Interior Designer of the Year back in 2022. Now, as a relatively new father with impeccable taste (naturally), he shared what items he hopes show up on Father’s Day on June 21. “My son Zayn is only 2 and a half, but I definitely hope he learns to pony up the Father’s Day goods soon enough,” he says, cheekily.

Stack Burner by Populous Project

“Designed locally in Vancouver, the solid brass form is architecturally stunning. I love the way the incense burns horizontally, hidden below the perforated vent—functional, sculptural and something beautiful enough to leave out at all times.”

The Bocci Portable 14P in Sepia

“This is something I want to carry around with me everywhere I go. Honestly, everything looks better next to an amber glowing ball. Equal parts mood lighting and object of desire.”

Kotn Linen Duvet Set

“You can never have too many bottles of wine, cups of coffee or linen duvet covers. I love switching bedding out with different colorways—it somehow makes the whole room feel brand new. Currently loving this gold-colored linen set from Toronto-based brand Kotn.”

Anián Denim Chore Coat

“Jean on jean. All men look good in a stacked denim combo, so the more the merrier for me. This Victoria-based brand feels fresh, has a great fit and as a bonus is rooted in slow, circular fashion.”

Lyndon Cormack

Many B.C.ers know Lyndon Cormack as the co-founder of global travel company, Herschel Supply Co. Others know him for his funky and layered approach to decorating, especially those who have had the pleasure of visiting his Deep Cove home (and if that’s not you, step inside with us here). As far as gifts go, Lyndon knows what he likes, which is why he might have had a hand in designing a thing or two on his wish list.

Leather Fly Swatter

“Who doesn’t need a beautiful flyswatter leather, wood, beautifully designed? Definitely a beautiful, simple upgrade to a needed item.”

Typical Towel in Moss Green

“A little shameless self-promotion: this Typical towel (a brand I co-founded), is a beautiful addition to any father’s bath routine. 98 percent cotton, two percent spandex gives 30 percent stretch. Patent pending and a winner of the 2026 Red Dot Design Award.”

Surf Shacks

“New edition of this book showing inspirational homes and workshops from surfers around the world.”

Herschel Watt Stand Golf Bag

“It wouldn’t be a gift guide without a Herschel suggestion from me. Our new Herschel Golf Range bag will make your dad the coolest guy on the course.”

Louis Duncan-He

Louis Duncan-He is Calgary-based interior designer (and principal at Louis Duncan-He Designs) with a stunning and playful portfolio, including this colourful Calgary home redesign that caught our attention. And as far as fathers go, it helps to have a playful spirit, so if his parenting style mirrors his taste in decor, we certainly hope he’s getting what’s on his wish list this year.

The Barware Collection from MOLO

“Beautifully streamlined, timeless and works with a wide range of interiors. I love the martini glasses!”

Rocky Mountain Soap Company’s Rosemary Mint Everything Wash

“I recently replaced all the soaps in our house with it and absolutely love it. The scent is refreshing, the formula leaves your skin feeling incredibly soft and I appreciate their commitment to quality ingredients. Their branding and in-store experience are also exceptionally well done.”

Jair Bracelet from Brave Leather

“I have the Brandy bracelet with gold hardware and wear it regularly. It’s stylish, well-crafted and comes in at a great price point for gifting.”

Carson Ting

This Vancouver-based graphic designer has a signature that’s hard to miss. Under his art alias, Chairman Ting, he creates bright, playful illustrations that are both child-like and yet masterfully executed. This year, he’s been chosen as a FIFA artist representing Canada, co-creating the official tournament poster with two other artists. Here’s what’s on his wishlist.

Hidden Place painting by Annie Pei-Hsuan Chen

“I chose this piece because I’m a big fan of supporting local artists and Annie also happens to be my studio mate in the West End. I’ve seen first hand how much effort she puts into her paintings. This particular piece is called Hidden Place and it’s 18 inches wide by 24 inches tall. I see the painting everyday when I come into the studio.”

Zero Ducks Given Vegan Chili Oil

“I think any Dad will love this Holy Duck Chili oil. I don’t eat meat so I chose the Zero Ducks Vegan Chili Oil and, honestly, this chili oil goes with anything. It is life-changingly good. Seriously. I use it on almost everything! Founded and made in Vancouver.”

Roldorf and Co. Corduroy Hat

“As a watch nerd, I have an obligation to reference a product from a local independent horology merchant. I think any Dad that’s into horology would appreciate anything from Roldorf and Co.”
