A stackable set of three stools allows for spare seating to be kept beautifully on display.
The practicality of the Tres stool set ($1,350 for 3) from Humble Object Furniture is clear right away: a little extra seating for when the party needs it, discreetly stacked together in a way that stools are rarely designed to do. And each stool is a beautiful objet either solo or stored together—no need to shuffle the spare seating out of sight and into a closet.
Head of industrial design Luis Villarreal creates the stools using locally sourced, sustainable and durable walnut, oak or maple, along with an eco-friendly Osmo lacquer finish; the result reveals a poetic design intention that’s as lovely as the objects themselves: the design is inspired by the intertwining canopies of West Coast forests. “As in nature, where branches intertwine and layers of canopy reveal glimpses of the sky through gaps,” the team at Humble Object writes in their entry, “Tres embodies this dynamic in its design.”
