Calgary designer Suzanne Tetrault transforms a sterile, grey bedroom into a serene hideaway with a green plaster alcove, cedar ceiling and layered linens.
DESIGNER: Suzanne Tetrault, Studio Felix, Calgary
Sure, you spend most of your time in your bedroom with your eyes closed—but that’s no excuse to ignore the space’s design potential. Suzanne Tetrault of Calgary’s Studio Felix certainly didn’t when she and builder Trade Sync took a sterile, drab room with “grey walls, some windows and not much else” and turned it into a serene and cozy hideaway. A shallow alcove, finished with a custom raked plaster in a midtone green, adds depth and dimension to the space; the Article bed, decked out in linens from West Elm, tucks in neatly. Even the ceiling got some love, with cedar tongue-and-groove treatment that nods to ’70s wood panelling in a way that feels timeless—a room so lovely, you’ll never want to drift off.
