Sherry Hakimzadeh’s renovation pays tribute to a design icon while framing the wild beauty of West Vancouver
Designed by Sherry Hakimzadeh, Sherry Hak Interior Design, West Vancouver
This home was originally the residence of the late acclaimed interior designer Robert Ledingham, so Sherry Hakimzadeh approached the renovation with reverence. “I loved the plan from day one,” says Hakimzadeh. But she also loved the wild and wonderful exterior of the property, so the designer tweaked Ledingham’s foundation to better bring the outside in, namely via a large picture window at the back of the dining room to frame the rocky, rugged topography that lies just outside. It created the perfect backdrop for a Bocci chandelier and a custom-sized Lock and Mortice dining table—an unusual squared-circle shape that can seat up to three on each side via Bensen chairs. Ann Sacks tiles underfoot are a nod to the checkered floors of Morocco, which Hakimzadeh fell in love with during her travels around the world. “I wanted to bring in all the things I love into one room,” she says.
