Here are the treats and treasures we’re wishing for this Christmas.

What Our Editors Are Asking For This Christmas

Rainbow Nest Bowl by Maria Ida Designs, $85

If I’m being completely honest, what’s on the top of my wish list this year is a complete, moody bathroom remodel (and this one by HB Design has certainly earned a spot on my pinterest board), but alas, the bag of money that would require is just a little too heavy for Santa’s sleigh this year. Instead, I’ll happily switch gears for a little item I’ve had my eye on for quite a while: the rainbow nest bowl ($85) by Maria Ida Designs. Day-to-day, I’m not a huge jewellery wearer, but I do love to have something beautiful to keep my rings and necklaces in on my bedside table when that special occasion does come around.  This double-walled nest bowl is glass-blown, with pebbles of rainbow-coloured glass ever-so-slightly melting into a clear, scooped “nest,” making no two bowls quite alike. It’s colourful, cute and bespoke and, luckily, Santa said he’s got just enough room on the sleigh for it. —Kristi Alexandra, managing editor

The Cradle Storage Bed from Hetta

The Cradle Storage Bed by Hetta, $2,190

When the folks behind Sundays furniture introduced the new Hetta brand this year, I was instantly hooked. Rooted in design, exquisite craftsmanship and, really, a sense of coziness and warmth, I’ve been coveting most of the line, including their sweet antique-feel side tables with bobbin legs. With its tufted headboard and rounded corners (mindful that no one hits their shins!), the Cradle Storage Bed marries coziness and functionality perfectly. With a cleverly hidden hydraulic system, the slats pull up to reveal a hefty storage area underneath — making this a perfect piece for apartments and small space living.—Darcy Matheson, editor in chief, BCBusiness

&Tradition Flowerpot Lamp, $399

Despite the fact we renovated our condo four years ago, there were still a major piece in the space that I had been itching to upgrade—an ivory shag rug that was not thriving in a household that now included a toddler (fishy crackers and a high pile do not mix). This fall, the time was finally right, and I switched in an offbeat green-and-blue design from West Elm. But once I’d swapped the rug out, I realized that the lamp situation also wasn’t working…and once that was resolved, it was clear the side table setup could use a rethink… In sum, it was a real If You Give a Mouse a Cookie, slippery-slope sort of conundrum, one that started spilling over into other rooms of the house (hello, bathroom!) had me plotting more swaps and upgrades than my bank account could keep up with. The full-on makeover mania had to hit a pause. But now that it’s the holidays, I can crack open my list of dream-home accessories once more and put someone else on the case. And I’m sure Santa can agree that a classic green &Tradition Flowerpot lamp would be the perfect (probably) finishing touch… especially because it’s portable so I can move it room to room easily as I continue to change my mind. —Stacey McLachlan, senior editor

Gingham Bed Linens, $445

If there’s something green and checkered, you bet it’s on my wish list. The furniture in my room is pretty neutral, so I love having a pop of colour with my bedding. The texture of these cotton bed linens by Danish textile brand JUNA adds a lived-in feel, and they look so soft to the touch. Plus, the green colourway is somehow both summer-y and perfect for the holiday season. Tell me how that works? —Rebekah Ho, digital marketing manager

Travel Candles from ROAM The Brand, $26

The easiest way to my heart this Christmas? A candle or two. Or three. Candles just add an extra layer of warmth and coziness in my home that I simply cannot get enough of. There are so many local West Coast candle brands, but I’ve had my eye on the travel scents by ROAM The Brand. With scents for Tofino, Jasper, Victoria, Whistler and elsewhere, ROAM’s candles are all hand-poured in Vancouver and completed with a thick crackling wick. I’m not picky, I’d be happy with (almost) any scent.Sandrine Jacquot, editor BCLiving

Konzuk’s Habitat Tealight Holders, $150

We’ve been longtime fans of designer Karen Konzuk around the Western Living offices—she was our Fashion and Jewellery Designer of the Year in 2009—and I’ve currently got one of her chic Orbis candles on my office desk at home. And since it would be ideal, of course, to have another of her pieces on my desk at the office, I’ve had her Habitat candle holder on my wish list since our senior editor Stacey McLachlan included them in our September issue. Her Habitat collection plays with a human instinct—our curiosity to glimpse into the private spaces others inhabit—and each piece is strikingly architectural, from the organic Rotunda to the Sanctuary shown here. And the texture that looks as though it’s made from board-formed concrete? Ridiculously cool. —Anicka Quin, editor-in-chief, Western Living

Article’s Lenia 9-drawer dresser, $2299

Almost every piece of furniture I have in my home was bought on Facebook Marketplace, at a thrift store or stolen from one of my grandmother’s houses. But once every few years I’ll splurge on a brand new piece. This year, it was a bed from Article—it’s absolutely stunning and was so expensive that I told my husband we need to use it for the rest of our lives and die in it, The Notebook-style. I love the bed, but it unfortunately makes our decade-plus old dressers look like garbage… so if anyone has a few extra thousand dollars to spare, I’d love to get a matching Article one. Please pay for in-home delivery as well because this looks heavy. —Alyssa Hirose, contributing editor
