The May long weekend (a.k.a. the unofficial start of summer) has come and gone, and that can only mean one thing: we’re about to spend a lot more time cooking and eating outside. And we think it’s safe to say the owners of these five homes will be doing the same—especially considering they’ve each got an incredible outdoor kitchen.

Home Slice

Forget hot dogs and hamburgers! With a wood-fired oven on the back patio, the owners of this BattersbyHowat-designed home are more likely to serve up slices of pepperoni pizza at their summer BBQs. Those seats around the firepit look like the perfect spot to chow down. Check out the rest of this modern mountain sanctuary in Squamish.

Raise the Bar

This Port Moody home was made for entertaining. It boasts not one, not two but three decks, the lowest of which features an impressive outdoor kitchen. We especially love the folding NanaWalls that connect the space to the at-home bar, allowing guests to easily refill their drinks. Step inside this Hamptons-inspired house designed by Karly MacLeod.

Triple Threat

This Calgary patio has got it all: a fireplace, a pergola-covered dining table, heaters and a cooking area. “They wanted to be there in the spring and fall as well, so we incorporated some functionality that would allow them to do that,” says designer Charlene Threatful. Zone Out

At 7,000 square feet, there’s a lot to discover inside this North Vancouver home—and the same can be said about its expansive grounds. “I wanted lots of zones,” says owner Lyndon Cormack, who worked with Omer Arbel to add an outdoor putting green, climbing wall, basketball court, sauna, hot tub, and a mega-sized chess set to the property.

And if you look through the doorway in the above picture, you’ll see there’s a large barbecue area, too! Tour this modern waterfront oasis.

Can you tell that the owners of this Okanagan farmhouse like to cook? The home chefs are “pretty particular,” so the team at Form Collective made sure the outdoor kitchen functioned just as well as the indoor one. They also positioned it in a way that would maximize those beautiful mountain views. Explore this idyllic 80-acre property.
