Artists, tastemakers and local celebs came out for the 33rd staging of Splash, an art auction for Arts Umbrella.
This past weekend anchors, artists and art lovers flocked to Granville Island for the 33rd annual Splash art auction fundraiser for Arts Umbrella Saturday night. The event raised a total of $300,000 with proceeds going to accessible art education for young people all over Metro Vancouver.
Global TV’s Robin Gill and Sophie Lui were among art enthusiasts in attendance at the 33rd staging of Splash, benefit for Arts Umbrella on Saturday, October 17.
Artists Athena Bax and Dina Goldstein were among 100 prominent artists who generously donated pieces to the Arts Umbrella fundraiser.
Carla Tak‘s untitled oil on canvas painting was one of 40 pieces donated and auctioned off by Barry Scott during the live auction. It contributed to an expected $300,00 for Arts Umbrella.
Haida artist Don Yeomans and his wife, Trace, saw his Welcoming Frog sculpture garner $32,000 for Arts Umbrella, one of Canada’s leading performing arts centres for youth.
Publicist Gemma Bishop and her father, legendary chef John Bishop, contributed to the Splash success. Gemma, an Arts Umbrella alumna hyped up the event, while her dad, in collaboration with Culinary Capers provided the tasty bites.
Gala chairs Jeff Merrick and Beverley Steinhoff fronted the art auction and gala at Performance Works on Granville Island.
Represented by Jennifer Winsor, artist Brian Howell‘s large-scale photograph of B.C.’s burnt forests was one of the most coveted during the live auction.
Society darlings Christie King and Janelle Washington were among tastemakers, philanthropists and business leaders who made the Arts Umbrella red carpet.
Reality star Massiah Vaughn and marketer Veronica Sanchez struck a pose for cameras at the annual art auction and gala.
CBC news anchor Miyoung Lee and ‘Man About Town’ Fred Lee made the scene at Arts Umbrella’s annual Splash soiree. Presented by Blakes and sponsored by the CBC, proceeds from the fine art auction will support quality art education for kids.
Arts Umbrella CEO and President Lucille Pacey and board chair Michael Lee welcomed a capacity crowd to the festivities.
Arts Umbrella students performed at the venerable Splash Gala held under the tents at Performance Works.
