Gaggenau's brunch on November 8 brought together over 70 local creatives and designers.
It was an inspiring morning at the Gaggenau showroom on Saturday, November 8, as design, film and gastronomy converged for Gaggenau’s exclusive Architecture & Design Film Festival (ADFF) brunch. The event brought together over 70 members of Vancouver’s design and creative community for a thoughtfully curated experience that celebrated craftsmanship, culture and conversation.
Guests were welcomed into the Gaggenau showroom to honour the film, We The Others, chronicling the story of brothers Fernando and Humberto Campana, the Brazilian award-winning furniture designers and co-founders of Estudio Campana. The Campana’s ethos, grounded in an unwavering respect for materiality and a belief that design has the power to connect and transform communities, mirrors Gaggenau’s philosophy. Through the Campana brothers’ journey, the film serves as a reminder that true creativity transcends form; it lives in emotion, empathy and the world around us.
The brunch featured a carefully crafted menu by Chef Deseree Lo and her team, Chefs Kevin Ao and Janice Quinto, echoing Gaggenau’s distinctive design principles through refined contrasts of texture, form and colour. Dishes such as black squid ink taco shells filled with Dungeness crab and artichoke, coconut prawn roll on charcoal bun and black bean hummus on cucumber dusted with charcoal powder each incorporated a touch of black—symbolizing refinement and depth—while silver-toned cutlery echoed the event’s metalwork narrative.
As guests mingled over these artful bites, the Gaggenau Showroom served as the perfect canvas for the event’s storytelling. Integrated throughout were Gaggenau’s Vario 400 Series ovens and cooktops, used in the food preparation, offering guests a firsthand look at the brand’s precision and performance in action.
Following the brunch, guests were transported to the VIFF Centre for the film screening. Custom Gaggenau snack trays, complete with branded popcorn, M&Ms and drinks, added a thoughtful, personalized touch. Each screening during ADFF opened with Gaggenau’s atmospheric brand film, offering a rare first look at the brand’s forthcoming Expressive Series cavity wall oven—the next evolution in craftsmanship and design, set to launch early next year.
Among those in attendance were leading figures from Vancouver’s design and architecture community, including Sean Pearson (RUF Project), Jamie Banfield (Jamie Banfield Design) and Alda Pereira (Alda Pereira Design Inc.), alongside designers and partners, representing Vancouver’s dynamic design and creative community. Conversations flowed, connections were made and the room buzzed with the shared appreciation for design, film and innovation.
