Meet the collection by Marcel Wanders coming to Canada in October.
Roche Bobois continues its longstanding commitment to fostering relationships with acclaimed designers by partnering with Dutch Marcel Wanders, who has dreamed up a collection where historical references and imaginary expeditions intertwine. Meet the Globe Trotter Collection, coming to Canada in October.Wanders mixture of historical allusions with innovative materials and techniques has placed him at the forefront of designers of his generation. His pieces are exhibited in some of the world's most renowned museums, including the MoMA in New York and San Francisco, the V&A Museum in London, Centre Pompidou in Paris, and the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam.Wanders mission to create work that excites people with the thrill of being alive has much in common with the Roche Bobois motto, the French concept of lart de vivre, which celebrates the meeting of life and art.For the Globe Trotter Collection, Wanders found inspiration in the spirit of adventurers: those bold explorers who ventured to faraway places, bringing back rare tales and treasures of the diverse cultures discovered on their journeys. Both unique and eclectic, the Globe Trotter Collection explores a boundless dreamscape where anything seems possible. From the Dojo double-sided bookcase, with its four mobile geometric shapes that recall traditional Japanese sliding partitions, to the Wonder cabinet and sideboard, with their round display windows that call to mind submarine portholes, each of the pieces that make up the eclectic Globe Trotter Collection is the stuff of fantasy. The Wonder Abanico screen and the Montgolfiere sofa, armchair, and ottoman pay special tribute to the Montgolfier Brothers, the pioneer inventors responsible for the first manned untethered flight of a hot-air balloon. Likewise, the Up Lampadaire, a floor lamp reminiscent of a hot-air balloon, seems only to remain anchored by its concrete base.To view the Marcel Wanders Globe Trotter Collection and to discover lart de vivre go to www.roche-bobois.com or visit the Roche Bobois Vancouver showroom (one of over 255 stores worldwide, including seven Canadian locations), where experienced design consultants are ready to assist with every aspect of the interior-design process, including product selection, customisation, and advanced 3D planning.
