Get ready for drama in 2016 with this bold design trend.
We’ve just sent the last of our files to the printer for our December issue and—spoiler alert—we’re featuring our predictions for design trends in the coming year. I’ll leave the big reveal for most of them in that issue, but here’s a sneak peek: bright, juicy colours like inky navy, Dijon mustard and brilliant purple feature in a trend we’re calling “Modern Drama.”It’s not for the faint of heart. Furniture favours the sumptuous, with velvets in high rotation and ’80s-inspired materials like metal and Lucite—and no surprise, the designs of Jonathan Adler fit right in here. His latest, the Goldfinger collection, brings in warm metal in polished brass (a trend that’s holding strong) paired with navy velvet. It’s a bold sofa for the daring—and I totally love it.
Goldfinger Apartment sofa by Jonathan Adler, $3,398, available in Vancouver at Mint Interiors, shop.mintinteriors.ca; in Victoria at Chintz and Co., chintz.com; in Calgary at Kit, Calgary, kitinteriorobjects.com; and in Edmonton at The Artworks, theartworks.ca.
