Trevor Linden’s Modernist Beauty in Vancouver

Evoke International Design created something truly special with this property, transforming a ’60s ramshackle house into a spectacular waterfront home for the Linden family. “A lot of the time, when you have these grandiose ideas, you can be let down. But in this case, it was really the opposite,” says Trevor. “It’s a home that’s better than I ever thought it could’ve been.”

And His Laid-Back Whistler Condo

Compared to his Vancouver home, Trevor Linden’s Whistler condo (also designed by Evoke) is more laidback. With plans to frequently host friends and “mad skiers”, the place couldn’t be too fragile—and it needed to be ready for some serious socializing.

Once they’ve come in off the mountain, guests move immediately into a proper wet room, with a steam shower, a cold shower and a luxe hot tub. The main living area and kitchen were designed with group hangouts and big dinners in mind; a built-in sofa maximizes seating, Gaggenau appliances help produce proper après-ski meals, and custom beds offer a soft spot to land after a grueling day on the slopes.

Glen Sather’s Mountain Getaway in Banff

As former manager of the New York Rangers, much of Glen Sather’s career was filled with frenetic travel schedules and a cacophony of crowds—so he and his wife, Ann, would often retreat to Banff. Designed by Bill Weber of Artwood Design and Gina McGuire, their mountain-contemporary home is a calm respite that pays homage to its natural surroundings.

Dan Hamhuis’s Lake House in Smithers

When Dan Hamhuis first approached Falken Reynolds, he had simple thoughts of what he wanted his Smithers, B.C. home to be: part mountain cabin, part lakefront house. Principals Chad Falkenberg and Kelly Reynolds took the mash-up concept and happily ran with it; the result is a 4,100-square-foot modern home, warm and bright, that celebrates the landscape and the active family’s outdoor lifestyle.

When former NHLer David Jones and his wife Kimberly were planning their dream home in North Vancouver, one thing came up early in their discussions with the team at Kelly Deck Design: Where will the Christmas tree go? The great room was designed specifically for the holidays, with a soaring double-height ceiling that would frame the evergreen.

Martin Jones’s Serene Japandi Retreat in North Vancouver

As Martin Jones neared the end of his NHL career in 2024—which included stints with the Los Angeles Kings, the San Jose Sharks, the Philadelphia Flyers, the Seattle Kraken and the Toronto Maple Leafs—he and his wife Alex decided the time was right to return to North Vancouver and find their forever home

Enlisting the talents of architect Robert Blaney, landscape architect Alexander Suvajac and interior designer Jamie Deck, they ended up with a 4,962-square-foot home that subtly combines Japanese and Scandinavian elements. Think neutral tones, natural materials and soft textures.
