Inside the studio with Steven Pollock, 2016 Furniture Designer of the Yearand maker of this year's sleek trophies.
It’s been three years since we first asked our Furniture Designer of the Year winners to create our annual DOTY awards, but the thrill of seeing the trophy for the first time is something we’ll never tire of.Especially when they’re all as unique as the hands that craft them (check out the previous renditions by MTH Woodworks and Sholto Scruton)—and this year’s award, designed by Steven Pollock, remains especially true to his signature style and materials palette. Featuring layers of cast concrete and anodized aluminum, the design may look simple, but there’s a lot of technique behind it. Check out the video below for a behind-the-scenes look inside Pollock’s studio—and a first glimpse at the sleek trophy.https://youtu.be/h8Upa-YsO4IWe can’t wait to see it in person at our Designers of the Year Awards September 21.
