We've eaten all the chocolate, and these are our current favourites.
We’ve been madly baking to put together the perfect cookie plate come Christmas Eve, but really, a little chocolate in the mix is a time- and life-saver this late in the game. Plus, it means those gluten-freers at your gathering have a little something sweet, too. Here are three of our favourites this season.
Even the anti-eggnoggers on our team were fans of Purdys new truffle: a white chocolate centre (which can also have its naysayers) gets a hit of eggnog, cinnamon, nutmeg, and Jamaican rum. Sweet, but not overly so, with a soft centre that’s a great match to the shortbreads on your plate.Eggnog Truffles from Purdys, $10, purdys.com
Fear not: no salami was harmed in the making of said chocolate. It looks like the real deal, but the meatless treat is made of chocolate, toasted almonds and pistachios, and paired with orange peel and dried cherries. It’s basically the fruit course on your dessert plate.Chocolate Salami from Well-Seasoned, $13.99, wellseasoned.ca
PC manages to elevate the classic After Eight with both darker chocolate—bitter and nearly unsweetened—and a better, creamier mint filling.70% Dark Chocolate Mint Thins from President’s Choice, $4.99, available at Shoppers Drug Mart and Loblaw, presidentschoice.ca
