Double the impact of your art collection with a well-placed mirror.
Designer: Falken Reynolds InteriorsHome: Whistler, B.C.This Whistler vacation home sees plenty of visitors come and go, so incorporating a multi-purpose zone in the master bedroom that could be used as either a workspace or a vanity was key for design firm Falken Reynolds. Above a shallow desk and Blu Dot Knicker chair (“Because this is in the bedroom, we brought in a fabric-upholstered piece to keep the space warm and cozy,” explains designer Chad Falkenberg) sits a ledged mirror, which serves a purpose beyond makeup checks: “The homeowner has a great collection of art,” says Falkenberg. “On the opposite wall, we hung a strong piece, so rather than putting a competing piece here, we installed a mirror to reflect it.” And from certain angles, the sightline from the window is visible, too—a gorgeous forest landscape that’s a work of art in its own right.
