Count down the days until Christmas with this page-turning advent calendar.
Like it or not, the countdown to Christmas is upon us. Over at WL headquarters, we’re pretty excited because it means it’s almost time to set up our advent calendars. There’s something wonderfully ceremonial and nostalgic about the yearly tradition, but waxy drugstore chocolate just doesn’t cut it anymore.Luckily, the Short Story Advent Calendar from Hingston and Olsen Publishing is back. The calendar—which drew attention last year from Margaret Atwood, Patton Oswalt and many more in-the-know literary buffs—is a collection of 24 stories from some of North America’s best writers. Each story is sealed to lessen the temptation of “accidentally” peeking ahead, which is wise, because this year’s lineup is stacked. The collection includes previously unpublished stories from Vancouver-based authors Charles Demers (The Horrors) and Anakana Schofield (Martin John), along with Daniel Handler (a.k.a. Lemony Snicket), Sheila Heti (How Should A Person Be?), and many more. The one-time print run calendar goes on sale October 1 and is bound to sell out quickly. Find it at shortstoryadventcalendar.com. Happy reading!
