We asked five Western Canadians with an eye for style what they're hoping to find under the tree this holiday season.
“These spiky Roman Objects vases by Jean Claude LeBlanc (price on request) are the perfect combination of beauty and edge, and speak to my inner rock star.
One can never have enough home accessories. I love the metallic Menu Tactile vase ($117).
All the entertaining during the holiday season always reminds me that I could use more platters and cutting boards. These boards (from $219) are made using a natural reactive process by Blackcreek Mercantile and would be the perfect addition to my cocktail and canapés spread.
My iPhone rules my life but this could be a real game changer. And an Apple and Hermes collaboration ($2,050)—need I say more?
These Iittala Alvar Alto vases (from $75) were designed in 1936 and are just as beautiful and current today. I especially love the new desert color and smoke but any sizes or colors would make me very happy.”
“I love candles in general and I think they are a perfect gift no matter what the season. This L’Admirable candle from Cire Trudon ($129) is pure perfection!
I love the mix of materials in the Neo vessel by Apparatus ($2,400) and, of course, the shape. It’s organic and so versatile, as it can be used for a lot of different purposes. I would just have it as a stand-alone piece on a table—it’s a piece of art.
I have a thing for sneakers and these patent leather-and-velvet Jimmy Choos ($795) are super-styling! I love to pair these with a more dressy outfit to throw a bit of a mix into my style. Really hoping that these will be under the tree, as I think I have been really good this year.”
“We’ve been eyeing these Kaikado canisters (price on request) from Japan for years and I just saw that Inform is carrying a selection of them. The copper, brass and tin change colour as they patina—getting better with age and use.
Loving the side table from Cassina’s Reaction Poetique collection by Jaime Hayon (price on request). Hayon is one of our favourite contemporary designers because of his playful and sculptural take on modern design. This collection was inspired by Le Corbusier.
It may be a little far-fetched, but we’re dreaming of a bathroom renovation so we can use the tile we designed for Interstyle. Slope is a series of 8 unique glass triangles (price on request). The prototype is installed in the Christmas window we designed for Inform Interiors.”
“The Vince Camuto Gold-Plated Graphic Cage cuff ($77) has clean architectural lines and is gold…absolutely gorgeous.
“Martha Sturdy’s designs always add a touch of class to any room. This recent Flower bowl ($684) is my most recent must-have from her collection of resin pieces.
A sculptural, organic Bocci 73 pendant light (from $820) can stand alone or in a cluster and look amazing in any space.
When listening to the latest Adele album or Christmas classics, this little B&O Beoplay S3 ($533) packs a punch—and looks cool to boot.
This 100 Contemporary Houses Book from Taschen ($80) is a stunning one for the coffee table.
When it comes to dramatic and chic fragrance candles, this Dayna Decker candle ($81) is my favourite, with a flickering wood wick and sophisticated black and gold glass.”
