Cha Le Tea Merchant Cafe and Shop, Vancouver

Husband-and-wife team Charlie Zhang and Sue Wang jump on the farm-to-table trend with their glossy new full-service tea café and shop. In wall-to-wall wood and white lacquer, the space is a minimalist’s dream, with cool copper tins and box decor from Vancouver design darlings Glasfurd and Walker (read more about the gorgeous design here). The vintage brick Devenish Building (built in 1911) welcomes Kate Hewko’s first design studio under her own name. This ultra-progressive boutique is full of statement-making clothing and accessories—nothing is simple or basic (think velvet T-shirts, sequin-patch denim and moonstone handpieces). Love putting pen to paper? A charming new shop celebrating all things stationery debuts in Edmonton’s Westmount neighbourhood, right on the artsy and independent 124 Street. Owner Tracy Losey’s bright and modern space carries painterly thank-you notes, high-end gift-wrap, candles, quirky gifts and design-forward journals from far-flung favourites (like U.K.-based marble-print maven Katie Leamon), plus a rotating cast of locals.
