Though Ikea made its name with basics like the über-functional Lack side table, the furniture giant also knows more than a little something about style, as its proven with a string of design-forward collaborations over the years. The latest is no exception: Ikea teamed up with fashion designer Chris Stamp to produce a brand new collection of sleek, modern furniture pieces designed for urban lifestyles—and a few surprisingly playful accessories to go along with them. Designer Chris Stamp with his new Ikea collaboration collection.Named Spänst, the limited-edition collection includes skateboards, basketball hoops and even some key clothing pieces like caps and hoodies. (Finally, something to wear as you’re building that Billy bookshelf.) “The idea behind the collection is for Ikea to reimagine how the younger, aesthetic, conscience, consumer is organizing their wardrobe and accessories at home,” says Stamp. “I want them to be able to take pride in how they display their clothing and footwear, allowing them to appreciate their pieces just as much when they’re not being worn.” To wit, Stamp’s storage units feature mesh and acrylic, creating an opportunity for display even when things are tucked away.Find Spänst pieces in Canadian Ikea stores starting May 1.
